Posted: 13 May 2006 03:25:17 Hi, Can someone tell me where the Installation guide is, or proper instructions? I must have missed the url ... all I can find is this: http://www.dotsilver.com/kbase/site-setup.html and after download & ftp upload, all it says is this: ................................................ **Upload to your server** After necessary configuration is done you should upload the script to the destination directory at your server." ................................................ What's "necessary configuration"? Is that what happens when you can't get to the "installation"? this is also confusing: ................................................ **Running installation module** Now you are ready to run the installation module that will help you with implementation of all necessary settings in an easy and fast way. Just point your browser to your new site and it will guide you through the process of installation and letting configure your site later. ................................................ What or where is the "installation module"? Is it a php file called "install.php"? Is it the file *configs.php* mentioned further down the page? Help ... :o) ... please As for the instruction, "Just point your browser to your new site", I keep getting this message: **Parse error: parse error, unexpected ',' in /home/www/mywebsitename.com/inc/header.inc.php on line 6** Can anyone help with step-by-step setup instructions, or the url or the installation manual [other than this page http://www.dotsilver.com/kbase/site-setup.html? Thanks in advance, RedDog |

Posted: 13 May 2006 08:25:54 Hi Red Dog :) 1st you create your database - using phpadmin or whatever your host offers. Open up "inc/header.inc.php" and fill in the top 4 lines with your database information, like this: (These are just examples, of course however "localhost is almost 99% of the times the name for the host. DO not use your server name). 'host' => 'localhost' // - More often than not, it is localhost. (MySql database host) , 'user' => 'reddog' // MySql database user name , 'pass' => 'secretword' // MySql database user password , 'name' => 'dotsilverdate' // MySql database name Once your database is created upload all the files to your server (the address where you plan on hosting your dating site from). Using an FTP software such as Smart ftp or even file manager via your hosting panel. After the files are uploaded, you need to go to: http://yourdomainaddres.com (whatever it is). This should load up an installation file, which will give you all the instructions to follow thru. Input your database information etc here. If you have any issues, let me know? you can also email me at admin@thedatingden if you like :) |

Posted: 13 May 2006 16:19:53 Hi Inertia, Thanks for your assistance- it is much appreciated! I did all of the above, and when I go to my dating domain name, I get this error message: **Parse error: parse error, unexpected ',' in /home/www/mywebsitename.com/inc/header.inc.php on line 6** I've looked at the php file over and over, and although I didn't add any "," I still get the same error message. It's probably something really simple, but I just can't see it. Thanks, Red Dog! |

Posted: 14 May 2006 21:02:50 Reddog sounds like your hosting is with Cpanel. If so your header.inc.php should look something like this... 'host' => 'localhost' // - More often than not, it is localhost. (MySql database host) , 'user' => 'reddog_reddog' // MySql database user name , 'pass' => 'secretword' // MySql database user password , 'name' => 'reddog_dotsilverdate' // MySql database name If you are on a shared hosting you need to have your account user name list before the user and date base name with the _ in between. Maybe this is the problem. The above is just an example. Larry |
