Hopefully someone can explain email status in partner control panel.

When looking at the member list in my partner control panel, I see a column for Email. In that column I see one of 3 letters listed; y, u, or n.

What do these letters represent?
I assume it for the status of their email address (confirmed or not, or something similar).

I have people with u's in that box; some are active members some are suspended.....why?

Hello Raybman,

We have three types of email status:
y - confirmed (when member makes a confirmation)
n - unconfirmed (when email doesn't work exactly)
u - undefined (when member doesn't make a confirmation)
Activation & suspending don't depend on email status. It depends on description and quality of profile.

In order to keep a more accurate database, it seems only members with "confirmed" email should be allow to become active. If a serious member puts up a profile but doesn't confirm, it is safe to assume that the profile is not serious, and probably worthless.

Anybody that has an "unconfirmed" or "undefined" email should become suspended and even removed from the database, since they are not serious members interested in contacting anybody, or participating in the dating program.

If a member has a "quality" profile, but their email is not valid, how serious is this member? Also, I would question the validity of the profile since the new member has no intentions of allowing communication with other members. And isn't that the whole point.

I have a lot u's and n's , but these members are listed as active members, that doesn't make sense.

Please explain if there is some other logical reasoning to allow these types of profiles to remain.

We don't delete "unconfirmed" profiles because there is a chance that member can change the mail status. And after a time "unconfirmed" profiles will be deleted automatically through the database.

If profile has "undefined" mail it means that it is worked but has the following reasons - does not have enough space, retry time not reached for any host after a long failure period, retry timeout exceeded, mailbox is full and etc.

Only y's and u's can communicate with each other. And our search system findes only y's and u's profiles.

n's profiles are not accessible to all members even if they are active.

Thank you very much for your piece of advice. We'd like to keep a more accurate database, and we consider that this structure is more acceptable.

Okay, good to hear the n's are not viewable.

Thanks for clearing that up.
