Hi guys. The time has come for us to talk about the increasing of the traffic to your sites. After the new upgrade, it is important for us to start to improve our sites as soon as possible. I think we shoud begin from Links exchange. It is simple and reliable way to get more traffic.

As I can see, some of you know how to do this and already exchanging with another sites, but other don't know how to do this or simply don't want it. We should think about it, after all, the whole our project is aimed at money earnings, so we need potential clients and we can find them in the common stream of a traffic from other sites.

You can use the Skalinks exchange script for this purposes or something else. Check up the directory on www.lovecompass.com or see the site of our partner: http://alternatestates.com/.

Let's talk about it, maybe someone has better ideas or something interesting about site optimization, that he wants to share with others. Ask any questions and take part in discussion on this matter. Let's help each other to make our business grow.

I'm definitely interested in discussing this topic as I am not very good at this... Btw, who has link directories here? What other strategies are effective?

I have read that writing articles in blogs and discussion boards is a good way to promote a site. But I'm not sure how that works, I think most people would consider that spam. However, if each partner ran a blog (for whatever purpose), cross-syndicated content using RSS feeds, and included a well written article about a dating site and included a link to it... I think it might help a lot. Spiders index blogs easier than regular sites, I think, based on my experience.

When it comes to search engines I have doubts that SEO will make a difference... I think you get what you pay for. Actually, I think that unless you are willing to invest a good sum of money on an aggressive campaign, you may never get what you pay for. Your turn! Agree? Disagree?

A healthy discussion on this might produce a good plan of action.

I've seen some partner sites setting up link exchange directories as well as exchanging links using static pages and even site homepage. It's a good start, because if your budget is limited link exchange and quality content is what where you start promoting your site.

I've got a list of what to do with a freshly installed partner script, if you ask me:

1) Customize you look and feel
You definitely don't want to look like another partner because you are risking to lose a potential signup if your visitor "saw something like that before". Differentiate yourself.

2) Build your brand
Come up with a catchy logo and tagline to be recognized among other faceless dating websites. A lot of people underestimate what first impression and positioning to the customer do to your business, in fact this is what constructs your customers base. I've heard about noticeable difference between inhabitants of say Lavalife and Yahoo Personals from long-time daters. Serious daters have a lot of options to choose from, so again, differentiate yourself to make your visitors find something in your message to them and trust you. Only after that you have a chance that they sign up and subscribe.

3) Exchange links with other sites
dotSilver gives you usability-tested software and members database to maximize your conversions but it's definitely your task drive traffic to your site. And for many partners link exchange is probably the only option to start from. Feel free to install SkaLinks software on your site (it's also a Skalfa eCommerce product) and play with it. SkaLinks is a recognized software in spite of being online for less than 1 year and it gives you convenient and time-saving tools to exchange links with sites. Feel free to discuss link exchange strategies at SkaLinks forum http://www.skalinks.com/forums/3_0.html

4) Try blogging
Set up a blog on your site where you can write about your ideas of anything related to online dating. Marketing, user experience, industry news and trends. Turn on trackbacks and comments (prepare to decline lots of phentermine related comments every day) to build up discussions on your site. Link frequently to other blogs of your theme to discuss their ideas and introduce your own. Bloggers like to be quoted so you get a chance to receive some reaction (link/attention) back. Thus you build your content and also gain link popularity by your blog. Just make sure you write at least one (quality!) article a day to ensure steady growth of your content base. Design a nice banner to put to your blog pages, linking to your dating site homepage, so targeted traffic has a chance to convert to your members.

5) Try out paid ads
After you've seen your free traffic conversion figures you can see if it's already a moment to start paying for traffic. Google adwords is a good option, it's really effective, just make sure you figure out its tricks and start slowly to test what your capabilities are.

Remember, that more and more .silver partners sites are popping up every day as the program gains popularity but only a few of them care to do something more than just installing the script and waiting for the money starting flowing in. dotSilver will work for you only if you work for yourself first. In programs like this 90% of players never succeed. If you are able to build up and perform a consistent promotion plan you're going to be in those other 10%.

This is just brainstorm, let me know what you do to promote your site.

Thanks Max, great tips! I will give it a shot. I used IBP8 to submit my site and it was quickly indexed in foreign search engines but not in the U.S. It's not been more than 30 days though... I read somewhere that it helps to have a ROR and a Google sitemap. I wanted to share these two tools:

Google Sitemap Generator

ROR Sitemap Generator

btw, does google sitemap submit help?

I don't think it can really help with rankings of your pages. And Google will never index pages that are not linked from other pages, ie those inaccessible "islands".

I think that exchanging links is a very good way to not only have a steady supply of traffic to each other's sites, but to take the web back from the search engines. Search engines have way too much control over the web, when the web should be for those that are sharing information. Everyone is too concerned about being first or second in the search engines for their keywords. Let's look at this in the correct way, do a google search for "Adult Dating Sites" and you will find 24,300,000. How many of those sites can get top ranking? Only one. How did they get that top rank? It wasn't by having a great SEO, but with money. Where does that leave most of us in the search engines? Lost somewhere in that 24 million.

I would highly recommend a visit to http://www.webreunited.com for some excellent ideals about getting traffic to your site for free.

By-the-way, speaking of link exchanges, if anyone is interested in exchanging links, I have a well organized links directory that is static for search engines to find. The link directory for my site is http://www.russianheartseekers.com/rlp/. I'll be glad to exchange links with sites that don't hide their links directory and make it easy for users to find and that has catagories. Note: Link exchanges that have all links on one page doesn't help either site.

I am also working on an adult site currently, but have a link directory for it as well at http://www.sexcapadz.com/rlp/
