Posted: 20 Oct 2006 12:28:56 I own an independent record label and a small promotion company. One thing we do for EVERY upcoming event is pass out flyers around about a 20 mile radius of where the events are help. We pass out between 5000 and 20000 4x6 flyers for every event for the 4 to 8 weeks before each event. Many other performing artists and nightclubs in the area do the same thing. This is what you can do. Contact the most popular (even some of the not so popular) performing artists and nightclubs in your area. Look for those that put out their own flyers and posters. These are who you want working with you. Offer them a cross-promo where THEIR ad goes on one side or the flyer and YOUR ad goes on the other side. You can even setup with 2 or 3 locations/artists and give them like 1/4 of flyer space for their ads. You would combine the ads on the flyers in a neet, attractive manner and you would split the cost of flyer printing with those who also have ads on the flyers. Then, once you get back your shipment fromthe printshop you split the promos up with the others and you ALL distribute to your own potential customer base. This means YOU'RE promoting for them and the THEY are promoting for you atteh same time but neither of you is doing any extra footwork (since you should be promoting your own businesses anyway). I work with nightclubs and performing artists because people who frequent clubs and live performance events are often single and more likely to visit a dating site if they see the info on a flyer. This way, you're getting a more effective promotion for a lower investment because you have MORE people distributing your promo materials and you will have paid LESS to get the promos printed. There are many other ways to work this type promo. It proved very successful for my artists this year. Another thing you can do is off artists/clubs to "sponsor" them in exchange for ad space on their printed promos and websites. If they aer already paying to have materials printed and you offer to pay, let's say 25 percent of their printing costs in exchange for 25 percent of the add spaceon the promos then they might just go for it. Your add get's into the hands of everyone that club/artist distributes to, you do less leg work and your website looks like an official sponsor of a well-know organization. Be sure to really push the "sponsored by" tagline on the promos. Makes your site look professional and even kinda corporate. I'm about to start an aggressive flyer promo so I hope this system proves to be profitable. I say again that $20 base per month is too much. Fewer people are gonna pay that so MY share of nothing is still nothing. If dotSilver were to lower the monthly base then the number of member signups would go up exponentially. Even at $15 per month the number of paid members would likely double when compared to the current fee schedule. Hell, if the monthly base was lowered to $10-12 then we could all do very well with this program! Anyway, this promo idea works with ANY sizedprinted promo. It can be 1-sided or 2-sided, professional color or black and white copies. It even works with business cards. Put a business card for a popular business (that passes out lots of cars) that fits your niche/demographic on one side and a creative add for your site(s) on the other side. Anyone want to add more ideas to this? Trust this. It works. This is what I do. Moni [This post was sponsored by: MaybeMore.com - Connecting singles for chat, friendship and maybe more.] ... See how that works? :) |
